POSITION: Safety, Quality and Food Supervisor

WORK LOCATION: Stone Mountain, GA

POSITION REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Safety, Quality and Food Supervisor -SQF, conducts visual audits and tests of finished goods to ensure quality standards are met and sustained. Oversees the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including Good Manufacturing Practices -GMP. Works closely with Operations Manager in the plant’s safety initiatives to ensure zero accidents, accident investigations, and overall plant safety. Provides supervision and ongoing team member training on in accordance of safety, quality and food as requested. The supervisor provides hands-on supervision in controlled utilization of quality and safety while achieving standardizations in maximizing optimal efficiencies levels of performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates audits of plant’s production lines in accordance with established Quality Control Procedures and documents test results.
  • Verify that all print and production jobs meet the current requirements of the product specification sheets, which includes graphics, color and product position(s).
  • Performs tests specified on the finished and in-production products to determine if it is in compliance.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of testing materials and forms to ensure a smooth operation of activities during shift with no disruptions or missed tests.
  • Implements critical knowledge transfer and communication processes with all teams;
  • Informs the Production Supervisor and/or Plant Manager immediately of any defects found;
  • Informs the leadership team immediately of any failure to meet established quality standards to ensure that corrective action is taken.
  • Coaches and supports team on Quality and SQF -Knowledge Transfer;
  • Continuous Improvement - help define, improve and implement processes
  • Seeks to continuously improve production processes (Root Cause Analysis, Correction and Preventions)
  • Define project requirements and deliverables based on scope
  • Provides continuous review and recommendations for improvement processes related to status reporting/dash boarding and quality assurance
  • Maintains quality and SQF documentation using WinCup documentation management system including records, product quality documentation, training plans and metrics reports.
  • Records all activities of inspections and audits on proper forms, creates a PDF of completed audit to send to the leadership team and save to WinCup documentation management system. Tracks action items until they are resolved.
  • Plan, coordinate, lead, and execute internal and certification audits (GFSI/SQF) and inspections.
  • Monitor and verify that all required quality audits and/or testing are being conducted and documented by auditors per regulatory requirements.
  • Provides training and mentoring to ensure all WinCup team members are fully capable of achieving Quality & Safety expectations.
  • Collaborates, as needed, to develop the Quality & Safety capabilities of WinCup team members to enable them to drive towards zero Quality & Safety incidents.
  • Investigates to determine and address root cause analyses during special situations, quality failures, regulatory inspections (SQF Audits), vendor (ingredient and packaging) related incidents, etc. to ensure proper investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution.
  • Works with the production team and leaders to ensure safety sustainment, quality control, and sanitation practices.
  • Communicates daily with all plant leadership on real time quality and safety performance issues.
  • Enforce quality compliance procedures with auditors and plant team members.
  • Responds on requests from contract accounts, verifies that special quality control testing, manufacturing or packaging procedures occur.
  • Acts as designated Food Safety and HACCP Manager along with being the SQF Practitioner for the plant.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for responding to customer complaints. Ensures timely corrective measures and reports metrics to leadership.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for responding to safety initiatives (safety training/meetings/projects, near misses, work-related injuries, etc.)
  • Communicates all safety incidents and conducts necessary accident investigations.
  • Leads the safety committee team to ensure safety tasks are completed.
  • Follows all GMP and sanitation guidelines along with maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.
  • Follows all safety guidelines along with maintaining a high level of confidentiality pertaining to team member’s medical records.
  • Plan coverage projects from initiation through closing; takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System is being followed
  • Communicates to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean work area at all times.
  • Enforces plant safety rules, housekeeping standards and employee work practices in accordance with company policies and OSHA/FDA regulations.
  • Performs performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Supervise, train and schedule quality team members ensuring each shift has a trained quality auditor.
  • Works split shift to ensure supervision to quality team while maintaining consistency in quality and safety standards.
  • Responsible for controlling and monitoring attendance and punctuality of the team members.
  • Supports all current and new product demands. Implement quality and safety improvement projects.
  • Works with all other departmental areas to maintain safety, quality, and plant initiatives.
  • Partners with leadership to ensure team collaboration including training methods that leads plant productivity.
  • Follows WinCup Values, follows company procedures, GMP, and other related safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by WinCup leadership as needed.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, environment health-safety, business, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in diverse manufacturing functions, including safety, quality, and production.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SQF and GMP standards.
  • Experience in plant quality protocols as well as internal and external audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software applications.
  • Safety, Quality and Food certification a plus.
  • Experience in LEAN Manufacturing, OSHA-Safety regulations, and HACCP preferred.
  • Ability to work split shift to support quality team on nights

  • Team Member will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
  • Team Member will be required to observe and assess information in a fast paced environment.
  • Requires frequent use of a production, manufacturing equipment and/or machinery.
  • Will be required to frequently move/transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds which may require frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.
  • Team Member may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Team Member may be required to stand for long periods up to 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts.
  • Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl.


WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):

  • Work space is one that contains moving mechanical parts.
  • Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.
  • Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
  • Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
  • Ability to work an 8 , 10 or 12 hour shifts as designated.
  • Ability to work split shift to support quality team on nights.
  • Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
