Lead Barista

The Lead Barista will assist the Retail Store Manager in the daily operations of the retail store. This role includes overseeing drink preparation, training new baristas, resolving customer concerns, and ensuring superior customer satisfaction. The Lead Barista serves as a knowledgeable resource on product offerings and is responsible for maintaining quality standards.

Accountability

The Lead Barista reports directly to the Retail Store Manager and is accountable for ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining product quality, and upholding excellent customer service standards.

Retail Responsibilities and Duties

• Assists in training and onboarding new baristas.

• Supervises and participates in drink preparation, ensuring adherence to health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.

• Ensures customer satisfaction through excellent service and engagement.

• Handles customer complaints in a diplomatic and courteous manner.

• Assists with inventory management and ordering, including:

• Prairie Farms & EOS orders

• Conducts routine quality checks on coffee, chocolate, and tea products to ensure high standards.

• Serves as the primary expert on chocolate services, addressing customer inquiries and supporting community engagement initiatives.

• Available to help cover shifts in case of call-offs.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

• Ensures all baristas adhere to store policies, operational procedures, and quality standards.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous restaurant or retail experience required; management experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move quickly throughout the store.

• Prolonged standing for up to 8 hours with minimal or unscheduled breaks.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

Skills

• Understanding of food safety practices to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Proficiency in using POS systems and cash registers for efficient transaction processing.
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during peak hours.
