Role Summary:
The Assistant Logistics Supervisor (ALS) is responsible for supporting the Logistics Supervisor with overseeing all dock (shipping/receiving) and delivery operations at the Southpoint Millwork facility. This role assists in leading and coordinating all logistics functions, including inbound and outbound deliveries, dock operations, inventory accuracy, equipment management, and personnel supervision. The Assistant Logistics Supervisor plays a vital role in promoting operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement while upholding Wilson Lumber’s Core Values.
Scope of the Position:
This position assists in supervising delivery drivers, driver helpers, dock associates, warehouse associates and works closely with administrative staff at the Southpoint Millwork facility as well as the dispatcher. The ALS is responsible for maintaining open communication within the team, coordinating with leadership, administrative staff, and dispatch, and stepping in for the Logistics Supervisor as needed.

Leadership & Supervision:
- Assist in leading, coaching, motivating, and developing delivery and dock teams through a collaborative, team-based approach.
- Assist in managing daily workflow, scheduling, and coverage for both delivery and dock operations.

- Provide clear direction on daily expectations, goals, and safety protocols.
Operational Excellence:
- Assist in ensuring flawless execution of delivery and dock operations in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company standards.
- Assist in coordinating delivery schedules between dispatch, logistics supervisor, delivery staff, and customers to meet service expectations.
- Assist in overseeing all shipping and receiving activities, including execution of load plans, load balance, and equipment use.
- Maintain accuracy and quality standards for all inbound and outbound orders.
- Assist in monitoring and managing all aspects of transportation and dock performance.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Serve as a point of contact for resolving service issues and special customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assists in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries.
- Assists in maintaining open lines of communication with staff, leadership, and customers.
Safety & Compliance:
- Assist in ensuring all safety programs are implemented, and training is completed as required.
- Helps to champions all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies always.
- Will assist in maintaining facility appearance, condition, and security.
Administrative & Other Duties:
- Working directly with Southpoint Logistics Supervisor and Southpoint administrative assistant, ensuring that all shipping and receiving documentation is processed timely and accurately.
- Document and manage damaged product claims.
- Inform management of equipment, facilities, or personnel concerns.

Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory or leadership experience in logistics, transportation, or dock operations.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and general transportation and warehouse safety regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to stand and walk frequently throughout the day.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to lift 150 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment.
