The IMC II will see clients requesting Emergency Assistance. The worker will provide short-term assessment, crisis intervention, and referral services to families experiencing financial, substance use, mental health and/or employment related emergencies. The worker will utilize a structured interview process to assess the client, determine what assistance is needed and refer to appropriate internal and external programs for additional casework, if needed. They must have the ability to learn the policies for programs and funding sources within the agency and community. Duties include, but are not limited to, assessing barriers, identifying needs, developing professional relationships and determining services to alleviate crisis situations. The IMC will also be trained to provide backup for the Work First program and have a small number of ongoing cases. This involves taking applications, overseeing changes for cases, communicating with clients and determining and re-determining eligibility for the Work First program.
The individual must demonstrate proficiency in accountability, adaptability, advocacy, case management, analytical thinking, communication, interviewing, documentation, professionalism, time management, and teamwork, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to diversity.A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required. The position requires the ability to read, apply, and retain policy; perform income computations; maintain accurate records; organize work effectively; and adapt to change. Intermediate computer skills are required. The individual must work effectively with team members, clients, agency staff, and community partners. Evening or after-hours work may be required.One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.**Will consider the following qualifications as a work-against**
Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiation, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
