We are seeking an experienced engineer in switching power conversion and analog circuit design and with the imagination, interest, and overall problem-solving ability to make strong contributions to the conception and development of new products. This is a hands-on role with involvement across the entire spectrum of the engineering process, from conception to prototyping to circuit layout to mechanical/thermal integration, including shepherding of new designs through manufacturing and support of designs during their product life cycle.

Established in 1963, Wilmore Electronics Company, Inc designs and manufactures electronic power conversion equipment in the power range from a few watts to a few kilowatts. We focus primarily on dc-input power supplies – dc-to-dc converters, do-to-ac inverters, and custom-designed power conversion – for critical industrial market sectors, including utility power generation/distribution, heavy transportation (railroad/construction/mining), and wireless communication/telemetry.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform and participate in the electrical, mechanical, and thermal design of high efficiency power conversion products, including dc-dc converters, dc-ac inverters and custom-designed switching power supplies.
  • Collaborate with other members of the technical staff to conceptualize new products, optimize design/production methods, and resolve complex issues as they arise.
  • Provide mentorship to other technical staff-in-training.
  • Work with production personnel to shepherd new products into the manufacturing environment.
  • Provide technical support for marketing and customer service efforts with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year or post graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or commensurate educational background
  • 5 years of solid-state power conversion design experience
  • Self-starting, reliable, and creative
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a highly flexible manufacturing environment
  • Must be a US Citizen, or have permanent US work authorization

Preferred Attributes:

  • Good Understanding of mechanical/thermal packaging
  • Well-versed in high-frequency magnetics design
  • CAD, KiCad or other design tools
