Position SummaryWYRA is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead the organization in advancing its mission, strengthening operational and financial health, supporting staff and volunteers, and building strong relationships within the community and rowing network. The Executive Director serves as the chief administrator responsible for operations, fundraising, partnerships, and strategic direction in partnership with the Board of Directors. This full-time position includes on-water coaching responsibilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesBoard & Organizational LeadershipExecute Board directives and implement approved policiesPrepare agendas and reports for Board and committee meetingsProvide regular operational, financial, and program updatesSupport Board recruitment, onboarding, and engagementParticipate in strategic planning and governance discussions
Staff & Volunteer ManagementSupervise all WYRA employees and volunteersEnsure adequate staffing for safe and successful programmingOversee hiring, evaluations, compliance, and policies
Financial ManagementLead all fiscal operations and ensure integrity and complianceDevelop the annual budget for Board approvalOversee accounting, audits, payroll, and vendor agreementsSupport long-term financial sustainability
Community Engagement & Public RelationsExpand WYRA’s visibility and partnershipsRecruit and retain athletes across all programsOversee social media and communicationsRepresent WYRA locally and nationally, including on the Riverfront BID Board
Boathouse & Rowing OperationsOversee facility safety, maintenance, and vendor contractsApprove operational purchases within budgetCoordinate travel and logistics for away regattasSupport execution of the Head of the Christina regattaCollaborate with parents to support athlete experience
Fundraising & DevelopmentLead revenue growth through grants, events, sponsorships, and appealsOversee donor communications and alumni engagementMaintain accurate fundraising documentation
QualificationsBachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferredDemonstrated leadership in nonprofit or organizational managementExperience in fundraising and financial oversightStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to build partnerships and work collaboratively with a BoardMust be able to multi-task and to meet deadlinesMust possess sound judgment and problem-solving skillsMust possess exceptional organizational skillsPhysical ability to lift 50 lbs and climb a ladderHolds a valid driver’s license
Rowing or coaching experience strongly preferred
