POSITION: Athletic Facilities Assistant (PT)
Requirements:
The incumbent must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate knowledge of ground care and maintenance practices. Applicants should have a solid understanding of the specifications and standards required for proper baseball and softball field preparation. Must have excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must be computer literate and proficient in basic Microsoft Office products. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is a must. The incumbent must have and maintain a valid driver's License. Must demonstrate respect for others in the workplace and a commitment to creating a supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Athletic Complex & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform daily maintenance of athletic complexes, gymnasium, turf, grass areas, and locker rooms.
- Clean and secure facilities after games/events.
- Empty trash, remove debris, and ensure the cleanliness of all athletic areas.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, mowers, and turf equipment.
- Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Prepare and maintain softball fields, including lining, dragging, watering, and repairing turf/grass areas.
- Cut grass, fertilize, spread sod, and rake as needed.
- Inspect dugouts, bullpens, batting cages, windscreens, and fences for safety and cleanliness.
- Maintain bleachers, press box, and locker rooms.
- Perform post-game cleanup and reset for next use.
- Cut and trim grass, maintain sidewalks, parking lots, trees, shrubs, and flower beds.
- Maintain walking trails through trimming, mulching, and weed control.
- Seasonal tasks include trimming, mulching, power washing, and banner installation/removal.
- Inspect and maintain turf, windscreens, benches, bleachers, nets, and press box.
- Drag turf on a scheduled basis (monthly in season, bi-monthly off season).
- Maintain gym floors, bleachers, banners, and locker rooms.
- Winter: snow/ice removal, plow turf as needed, secure outdoor shelters.
- Athletic seasons: install/remove banners, flags, and windscreens as required.
- Assist with minor repairs to sound systems.
- Perform additional duties assigned by Athletic Facilities/Operations Manager; flexibility is required due to varied daily tasks.
- Promote and foster a supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (The Incumbent must be flexible with hours based on the use of the complexes and the schedule of games.)
