What are the responsibilities and job description for the LTS - Occupational Therapist (OT) position at Wilmington Public Schools?
JOB GOAL: To provide high-quality services, assessments, and consultation across the district in collaboration with building-based and district staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate as a member of the evaluation team by performing assessments, making recommendations through written reports and by writing appropriate sections of students’ educational plans.
• Participation in individually assigned schools MTSS (student support) process to screen students and help determine short-term interventions (6-12 weeks) and delivery of services.
• Serve as consultant to school personnel and parents, sharing knowledge and information related to area of expertise as needed.
• Serve as a liaison between community providers [e.g. medical personnel, private therapists] and school personnel as appropriate.
• Maintain communication with parents regarding student performance and progress as needed.
• Provide direct service for an assigned caseload, as outlined on students’ educational plan.
• Maintain thorough and ongoing records of individual student performance and progress.
• Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
• Work in a cooperative interdisciplinary team approach in planning and implementing student services.
•Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Develop and maintain a therapy environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of resources available. This includes the implementation of appropriate systems of behavior management.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Provides supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as dictated by the American Occupational Therapy Association and conducts their yearly evaluation.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and state and federal regulations.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings as needed.
•Provide for professional growth through an ongoing professional development.
• Any and all other duties required to fulfill the responsibilities of a therapist of students with special needs.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ability to manage caseload of students through direct and consultative means
• Documentation of services in accordance with Medicaid guidelines and in the IEP Platform
• Always maintain a high degree of professionalism (attendance, punctuality, demeanor, etc.)
• Ability to multi-task and perform a range of instructional and administrative duties

Salary : $51,000 - $85,000
