DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Wilmington Public Schools seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) who provides high-quality services and consultation across the district in collaboration with supervising Occupational Therapist, building-based and district staff.
•To a ssist in implementing Occupational Therapy services for an assigned caseload of students.
• Make appropriate occupational therapy referrals and program recommendations with input from clinical supervisor as appropriate.
• To participate as a member of the education team by performing assessments, writing progress reports and attending TEAM meetings and may not interpret data beyond the scope of his/her occupational therapy assistant education. Supervision from a Registered Occupational Therapist to be provided as needed and required by the guidelines of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Participation in individually assigned schools MTSS (student support) process to screen students and help determine short-term interventions (6-12 weeks) and delivery of services.
• Plan and implement occupational therapy interventions to identified students with input from clinical supervisor as appropriate.
• To keep thorough and ongoing records for individual students receiving occupational therapy.
• Consult with teachers and other professionals to supplement and complement other therapeutic and educational efforts.
• To maintain ongoing communication with supervising Occupational Therapist regarding status of students on caseload and related issues.
• Works in conjunction with the team to create Educational Plans for annual reviews and provides input for students who are involved with the three-year re-evaluation or initial evaluation.
• Provide input to clinical supervisor regarding caseload, program issues, and upcoming evaluations/referrals.
• As appropriate, share knowledge and information related to Occupational Therapy services with staff and parents.
• Prepare required written occupational therapy progress notes and IEPs, with input from clinical supervisor asappropriate.
• Maintain all necessary and appropriate records for public schools.
• Attends meetings and conferences as needed.
• Summer services as required by students IEPs.
• All other necessary duties as requested by Supervising Occupational Therapist and/or Coordinator of Special Education as required to fulfill the responsibilities of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Salary : $37 - $40
