SUMMARY: Wilmington Housing Authority is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of public housing sites. The ideal candidate will monitor premises, respond to emergencies, assist with fire drills, enforce parking policies, provide security during events, and perform other duties as assigned. This role requires accurate incident documentation, operation of security technology, and collaboration with staff to maintain a secure and safe environment. This position offers an opportunity to serve and protect the community by maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Patrol and monitor public housing sites to maintain safety and security.
- Assist with fire drills and emergency response procedures.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, and disturbances.
- Provide security coverage during scheduled events.
- Remain on-call for coverage during absences or emergencies.
- Enforce WHA parking policies and issue violations as needed.
- Document incidents and security activities accurately and timely.
- Operate and monitor CCTV and other security systems.
- Attend staff meetings and workgroup sessions to coordinate security policies.
- Attend and testify in court or any legal proceedings as a witness when required.
- Communicate with internal customers and residents in a friendly, professional and patient manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
MEASUREMENT:
§ Biweekly report and monthly reporting of all incidents and reports at 100%.
§ Conducts safety education and training.
§ Timely and accurately completes work.
§ Checks daily to ensure all cameras are working.
- Follow-up on all inquiries within one business day.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

- Communicate with internal customers and residents in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.
- Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long-term relationships.
- Immediately address any internal customers and residents’ concerns and request the involvement of other personnel as required. Notify manager of any major concerns and the action taken to resolve.
SAFETY:
- Use and promote safe work practices in the office and in the field.
- Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your manager.
- Notify manager or safety personnel of any unsafe conditions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of security or related experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Cannot be a resident of public housing (to ensure confidentiality).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
- Skilled in managing confrontations professionally and safely.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Yellow Card certification
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, board members, residents, internal and external customers and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
