Position Summary:
The Wilmington Housing Authority is seeking a dedicated and experienced Security Training Coordinator responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs for security staff. The ideal candidate will provide instruction on security procedures, emergency response, conflict management, and use of security technology. This role involves training new hires and ongoing professional development, maintaining training records, and collaborating with supervisory staff to ensure security personnel are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for security staff, including new hire orientation and ongoing skill development.
- Ensure training covers security protocols, emergency response, conflict resolution, parking enforcement, and use of security equipment.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training initiatives and update curricula as necessary.
- Maintain training records and certifications for all security personnel.
- Support security staff in managing confrontations while promoting professionalism and safety.
- Collaborate with supervisory staff to identify training needs and develop targeted training solutions.
- Provide instruction on emergency procedures, fire drills, and safety policies.
- Operate or facilitate training on security technology, including CCTV and related systems.
- Attend staff meetings and workgroup sessions to coordinate security policies, training standards, and procedural updates.
- Assist in preparing security staff for legal proceedings and court appearances as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or related training roles.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs, preferably in security or public safety settings.
- Possession of a valid Yellow Card.
- High school diploma or GED; additional training or certification in security, law enforcement, or instructional design preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Not a resident of public housing to ensure confidentiality.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with instructional techniques and adult learning principles.
- Familiarity with security technology, including CCTV systems.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including night and weekend shifts as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining training records.
- Ability to manage confrontations professionally while maintaining safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and community members.
