About the Human Resources Assistant
This is a temporary position that is estimated to end on September 30, 2026.
The Human Resources Assistant reports to the Director of Human Resources and provides day to day operational support pertaining to all Human Resources Administration including recruiting, new hire orientation, insurance benefits administration, Workers’ Compensation, leaves of absence and disability benefits, personnel file management and credentialing and employee relations issues.
Schedule
This position is scheduled to work approximately 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $35.00 per hour. This position is also eligible for 6 days of paid sick leave.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee personnel files, HR databases and organizational records.
- Assist in the development, implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Prepare HR reports, letters and documentation.
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes and responding to employee inquiries.
- Facilitate employee onboarding, orientation and offboarding processes.
- Serve as a point of contact for HR-related questions.
- Post job openings on internal and external platforms, review applications, coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates and hiring managers.
- Support background checks, reference verification and offer letter preparation.
- Assist with credentialing and re-credentialing of providers, including verification of education, licensure, certifications, work history and references.
- Maintain accurate provider credentialing files and ensure compliance with FQHC, state and payer requirements.
- Track expiration dates for licenses, DEA registrations, certifications and other required credentials, notifying providers and management of renewals.
- Prepare and submit credentialing packets to payers, managed care organizations and other relevant entities.
- Coordinate with credentialing organizations and regulatory bodies to facilitate timely provider enrollment and compliance.
- Provide general office and administrative support to HR leadership and other departments.
- Complete other duties as assigned in support of WCC’s mission.
Education and Experience
- 1 year of related experience in a similar role in an organization of at least 50 employees.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
- A certificate in human resources from an accredited institution preferred.
- Experience using Paylocity or similar HRIS preferred.
Skills
- Good working knowledge of California and Federal employment laws.
- Experience using project management software such as Monday.com.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good communication and small-group presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and employees.
- High level of interpersonal skills, integrity and the ability to keep information confidential.
- High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet research and easily able to learn new software programs.
- Passion for service.
