Job Summary
We are hiring a Janitor/Commercial Cleaner to maintain city-owned buildings and facilities. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining common areas, offices, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other public spaces. The ideal candidate is reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently while meeting high cleaning standards.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, lobbies, hallways, and public areas
- Clean and disinfect restrooms; restock paper products and soap
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain all floor surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling containers; replace liners
- Dust furniture, desks, windowsills, and fixtures
- Clean interior glass, mirrors, doors, and touchpoints
- Maintain break rooms and common areas
- Follow detailed cleaning schedules and checklists
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to company procedures
- Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors
- Ensure facilities remain clean, secure, and presentable for employees and the public
Qualifications
- Previous janitorial or commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not required
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet any requirements necessary to work in municipal facilities
