About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and uphold the highest standards of financial integrity. This pivotal role involves overseeing all general accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and acting as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders to foster financial transparency and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and audit the work of the Accounting team, guiding the implementation and maintenance of robust accounting systems and procedures (GAAP compliant).
Oversee and streamline core accounting processes, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and inventory control.
Manage the comprehensive financial statement preparation cycle, including month-end and quarterly closings, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Monitor and review all financial transactions, encompassing assets, liabilities, and equity, to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Serve as the primary company liaison for external auditors, effectively coordinating annual financial and 401K audits and providing necessary documentation.
Execute fundamental accounting procedures, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and the preparation of detailed supporting schedules for financial statements.
Proactively communicate with clients regarding past due invoices, providing regular status updates and contributing to healthy cash flow management.
Ensure that all active projects are adequately covered by valid and legally binding contracts, mitigating financial risk.
Conduct thorough reviews, analyses, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts and investment transactions for quarterly management reports.
Perform comprehensive monthly analyses of operational financial data to identify trends and inform strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications
5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally gained within public accounting or a comparable fast-paced corporate environment.
Thorough and practical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application in diverse financial scenarios.
Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities and proven experience in supervising and mentoring accounting professionals.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal departments and external clients.
Advanced computer aptitude, including expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, and experience with applicable accounting software (e.g., ERP systems).
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification or an MBA.
Experience with specific ERP systems relevant to our industry.
Demonstrated experience in process improvement and automation within an accounting function.
