Job Summary
The school nurse provides health services for students and acts as an advocate, liaison, and consultant on health-related issues for students, families and school personnel.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
May be required to travel to other schools to provide medical care
Provide healthcare to all students
Provide medical care to special needs students requiring extensive medical care and treatments
Perform health screenings if applicable to students and staff
Organize health records including the management and collection of state-mandated health records for students (i.e. immunization records)
Must work with school counselors creating and maintaining student medical 504 Plans
Serve as liaison between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment
Required to instruct First Aid, AED and CPR certification to staff annually
Monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety
Implement infection control measures
Administer prescribed daily medication, health care procedure, and treatments
Make decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance under supervision
Understands and adheres to all pertinent HIPAA requirements
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of North Dakota.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. A minimum of 2 years' experience in the related field is preferred (Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic, EMT).
CPR First Aid, CPR, AED certification for health care providers.
Certification as an American Heart Association Instructor will be required upon hire.
