The Principal of Willis High School serves as the instructional and operational leader of a 6A campus of approximately 2,800 students, responsible for driving high levels of student achievement through rigorous instruction, strong staff development, and a culture of accountability and belonging. Success in this role is defined by measurable gains in student performance, effective implementation of high-quality instructional practices, strong campus systems, and the development of teacher and leadership capacity aligned to district goals. This position is a key member of the district’s leadership team, working in close partnership with district administration to ensure campus performance, student outcomes, and community engagement are aligned with Willis ISD’s strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
The Principal leads all aspects of campus instruction by ensuring alignment of curriculum, teaching, and assessment while using data to drive continuous improvement in student outcomes. They oversee personnel, including hiring, evaluation, and development of staff, while building leadership capacity and maintaining a high-performance culture focused on results. The Principal also manages campus operations, including budget, safety, student discipline, and community engagement, ensuring a well-run, safe, and supportive learning environment aligned with district expectations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree in educational administration, a valid Texas principal certification, and is a certified T-TESS appraiser. They bring strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, the ability to evaluate teaching effectiveness, and demonstrated skill in managing personnel, budgets, and campus operations. Candidates must have at least three years of prior principal experience, along with exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
