The Willingboro Township Recreation Department is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Recreation Program Coordinator.
Work Schedule:
The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with evening and weekend hours as required to support recreation programs and special events. This position is covered under the AFSCME Local 3827 union contract.
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Recreation, the Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing a variety of recreational programs and activities for the community. This role involves program development, staff supervision, program oversight, and community engagement to ensure a diverse and high-quality recreational experience for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
- Research, plan, and develop a variety of recreation programs, activities, and special events.
- Coordinate all aspects of program delivery, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
- Ensure programs meet community needs, interests, and align with organizational goals.
- May oversee specific program areas, such as sports, arts and crafts, or youth programs.
Community Engagement:
- Promote recreation programs through flyers, social media, and community outreach efforts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, participants, and key stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to inquiries and provide accurate information about programs and events.
Facility and Equipment Management:
- Manage assigned recreation facilities to ensure they are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Oversee the inventory, proper use, and maintenance of program equipment.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Implement and enforce safety regulations and procedures.
- Provide first aid and emergency care when necessary.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation or support of a recreation department or similar program environment.
- Knowledge of municipal recreation operations, programs, and services.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support program operations.
Salary:
This position is classified as Grade 12, with a salary range of $48,312 – $80,846, commensurate with experience.
