Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing critical pre-hospital care to patients of all ages.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history collection.
- Manage airway techniques, including airway management and ventilation support, to stabilize patients.
- Administer medications and injections as authorized by protocols or medical direction.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely across city streets while adhering to traffic laws and safety procedures.
- Utilize medical equipment such as DME (Durable Medical Equipment), monitors, and trauma supplies effectively during emergencies.
- Conduct trauma care procedures, including hemorrhage control, immobilization, and neonatal resuscitation when necessary.
- Maintain clear documentation of patient condition, treatment provided, and incident details following aseptic techniques.
- Coordinate with hospital staff during patient transfer, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of care.
- Participate in incident command activities during multi-casualty incidents or complex emergencies.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience in emergency medicine or related fields such as hospital or urgent care settings. Critical care transport experience and familiarity with Level I or Level II trauma centers are highly valued. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in cardiovascular emergency response, trauma medicine, pediatric emergency care, and neonatal resuscitation procedures. A strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and venipuncture techniques is essential. Experience with emergency vehicle operation, city street navigation, heavy lifting, and driving under pressure is required. Additional qualifications include basic life support certification, trauma care expertise, incident command familiarity, medication administration skills, and knowledge of medical equipment operation. Previous roles involving patient transport or urgent care provide a solid foundation for success in this position.
