Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Performs assigned month-end activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting and variance analysis
- Prepares, maintains and develops schedules, reports, and analyses for internal/external customers
- Provides requested documentation and clear explanations for audit processes
- Participates in small projects with minimal mentorship and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
- Processes and analyses significant amounts of data, including issues and transactions
- Other duties as assigned
- Implements monthly, quarterly, yearly and invoice closing cycles
- Prepares deferred revenue schedules
- Analyzes monthly fluctuations in volumes/activity and explains variances
- Understands and abides by SOX controls
- Ability to work overtime, if needed, during critical monthly and quarterly closings/reporting
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related major with a strong accounting focus and minimum four (4) years experience in accounting in the energy industry
- Preferred: CPA
- Preferred: Revenue accounting
- Preferred: Experience with Oracle and/or HFM
- Preferred: Familiarity with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
- Promotes effective cross-functional communication and collaboration within the team and across departments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial skills
