Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, execution-focused Chief Operating Officer (COO) to partner closely with ownership in strengthening and scaling a growing electrical contracting company. This role is designed for an experienced operator who excels at improving operations, building structure, and turning strategy into consistent results.
The COO will work directly with the owner to enhance execution across field and office operations, develop leaders, improve profitability, and support sustainable growth. This position requires practical construction experience, sound judgment, and the ability to bring clarity and discipline to a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations including field operations, project management, estimating, procurement, scheduling, fleet, and facilities
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements
- Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Partner with the CEO to execute company strategy and growth initiatives
- Own operational KPIs including labor efficiency, margins, productivity, and project performance
- Improve job costing accuracy, forecasting, and operational reporting
- Lead and hold accountable department heads, project managers, and field leadership
- Drive a strong culture of safety, quality, and accountability
- Optimize systems and tools (ERP, ServiceTitan, estimating, scheduling, etc.)
Qualifications
- Required: Prior experience working for an electrical contractor, MEP contractor, or closely related construction services business
- 10 years of leadership experience in construction, electrical, or related trades
- Proven experience managing multi-project, field-driven operations
- Strong understanding of job costing, labor management, and operational finance
- Experience leading managers and building high-performing teams
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical or MEP contracting background
- Experience scaling a growing construction or services company
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan, Accubid, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business (preferred)
