What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Exam Proctor position at Williams College?
The Office of Accessible Education at Williams College is seeking dependable, detail-oriented individuals to join our Temporary Exam Proctor pool for the 2026-27 academic year.
The proctor's primary role is to monitor OAE’s new Testing Center, ensuring a secure, quiet, and low-distraction environment for students taking midterm and final exams in a small group setting. General responsibilities also include managing the administration of exam materials and providing basic logistical support to students during their exams, while upholding all standards of academic integrity.
Standard hours of the Testing Center will be Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm, although some evening hours may also be offered. Multiple proctors will be hired to join the proctoring pool and will be offered individual testing shifts on an as-needed basis throughout the fall and spring semesters. Shifts will vary in length and will be based on course schedules, student accommodations, exam schedules, and proctor availability. Shifts are generally confirmed 1-2 weeks in advance, offering flexible hours for those seeking part-time, temporary work.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Basic computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Able to remain seated or move around a room quietly for extended periods of time (2-4 hours)
- Commitment to academic integrity, willingness to monitor student behavior, and ability to address student questions and concerns in a calm and impartial manner
