William Monroe Middle School - Front Office
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provides responsible administrative, clerical, and human support in assisting the classroom teacher in the management and instruction of students
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess high school diploma or GED equivalency certificate
- Have demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and community members.
- Communication skills to effectively convey messages to a variety of audiences in a variety of formats;
- Resourcefulness to develop solutions and alternatives in time-sensitive and high-pressure situations with the ability to stay calm under pressure to effectively serve school staff/administration and solve problems;
- Tech savvy to be able to use all tools available to improve and reinforce processes
- Ability to think big picture and to prioritize to get things done;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- A positive attitude and ability to adapt to various situations
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
- Performs related tasks as required and directed by principal or their designee.
- All work is performed under the direction and supervision of the school administration, however, the support staff may independently carry out particular aspects of the job function
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and maintains pleasant and orderly office environment;
- Assists staff in related instructional activities (e.g., field trips, library, assembly,) as required
- Assists in physical movement of students from one learning environment to another as requried
- Participates in team meetings.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of information for the office of the Principal, staff and students;
- Organize and manage routine work activities of the Principal’s office and of members of the School Staff;
- Manage telephone for immediate front office, both incoming and outgoing, screens, refers and/or follows through with appropriate action;
- Receive and screen visitors, telephone calls, and incoming mail, personally answering those inquiries which, in the employee’s judgment, do not require the Principal’s or Staff’s personal attention; interact effectively with various people including parents, school staff, and community members;
- Respond to routine inquiries from staff and public promptly; efficiently refer problem inquires to Principal or appropriate administrator;
- Advises Principal immediately of possible items warranting his/her immediate attention.
- Manage student attendance compliance with all reporting deadlines, and ensure timely and proper submission of all reports required;
- Exhibit a positive attitude by acting as a role model for division employees, students and the community to support the mission of the division;
- Demonstrate cooperation by working effectively with others including supervisors, peers, staff, parents, and students;
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Effectively utilizes technology to enhance communication, organization and presentation;
- Continually seeks to improve job performance through self-assessment, skill development, training, and goal setting;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Mental Demands: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions or take appropriate action in a variety of matters. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or other forms.
- Physical Demands: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- It is anticipated that some stress will be associated with this position primarily due to deadlines and irregular workflow. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful.
EVALUATION:
Performance on the job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10 Month – 190 days – 7 hours 15 minutes per day
Salary : $23,662 - $31,892
