Pay Rate: $13 – $15 per hour (based on experience)

Position Summary:
William C. Abney Academy is seeking a reliable and caring Food Service Worker to join our cafeteria team. This position plays a key role in preparing and serving nutritious meals to our elementary students, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and ensuring a positive dining experience for all children and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch in accordance with school nutrition guidelines
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Set up, serve, and clean up cafeteria and kitchen areas before and after meal service
- Operate standard kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, warmers, dishwashers) safely and efficiently
- Restock food and supplies as needed throughout the day
- Wash dishes, trays, and utensils; maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
- Work cooperatively with other cafeteria staff, teachers, and students
- Follow daily schedules and directions from the Kitchen Manager or Food Service Lead
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Previous food service or cafeteria experience (strongly preferred, but not required)
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Friendly and positive attitude, especially when interacting with children
- Must pass background check and meet all school district employment requirements
