Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and other school facilities using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Handle chemical agents safely by following established chemical handling safety procedures to ensure a healthy environment for everyone.
• Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment to maintain floors in excellent condition through buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing.
• Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling tasks such as moving furniture, supplies, or equipment while adhering to safe lifting practices.
• Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces, waste removal, and ensuring restrooms are hygienic at all times.
• Assist with general facilities maintenance including minor repairs and painting tasks to support the overall upkeep of the school building.
• Follow safety protocols diligently during all custodial activities to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Support the school community by providing excellent customer service through friendly communication and prompt response to custodial requests.

Experience

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience in a commercial or industrial cleaning setting is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care, sanitation procedures, and the operation of cleaning equipment such as buffers and scrubbers.
• Experience handling chemical agents safely according to safety protocol guidelines.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining physical stamina for manual handling tasks throughout shifts.
• Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or painting is a plus.
• Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence combined with excellent customer service skills.
• Previous porter or industrial cleaning experience will be considered an asset for this energetic role.
