Position Summary
The Payroll Manager monitors and manages payroll activities to guarantee compliance, and accurate and timely processing of multi-state payrolls; supervises and mentors direct reports, researches various inquiries and completes data analysis within the payroll department. This position is responsible for planning and prioritizing work to maximize team performance. They also establish standards and reusable practices for payroll operations, while cultivating strong client relationships both within their area of responsibility and across the organization.
Essential Position Functions
Bachelor's degree required in finance, accounting or business-related field and at minimum of five years of payroll management experience is required OR equivalent combination of education and experience which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licenses, Certificates & Registrations
Ability to receive Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) within 18 months of hire.
Expected hiring range for this position depending on experience (annual salary):: $105,000 USD - $119,000 USD
Compensation
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan.

Essential Position Functions
- Oversees, manages and performs payroll and timekeeping processes to ensure accurate and timely multi state payroll processing for bi-monthly pay cycles and off-cycle pay requests using UKG Pro Payroll and Dimensions timekeeping system.
- Tracks, reconciles, and troubleshoots periodic payroll tax reports, adjustments, and related payroll reports processed by the Payroll Provider Tax Services.
- Prepares and processes other payroll filings and other payroll reports not covered by the Payroll Provider Tax Services.
- Investigates, resolves and responds to regulatory agency payroll matter notices.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and HRIS company processes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local wage and hour laws and regulations.
- Researches, troubleshoots and responds to a wide range of inquiries related to payroll and timecard records.
- Leads and performs various payroll audits, prepares audit work papers, annual payroll surveys and other monthly/periodic/annual reports on a regular basis, or as assigned.
- Support Accounting department with annual audit and regulatory requests for payroll related inquiries.
- Prepares process documentation and training materials; provides training and maintain documentation for payroll and timekeeping systems.
- Maintains Payroll systems with pay policy changes, department changes, upgrades, troubleshooting, procedures, etc.
- Maintains current payroll and timekeeping system knowledge of applicable HRIS system configuration, new functionality, testing, troubleshooting.
- Leads payroll and cross-functional projects across payroll, operations, human resources, IT and other departments.
- Provides excellent customer service to employees, management, and external parties.
- Advances working knowledge by seeking out and participating in self-development opportunities.
- Recommends and implements process improvements.
- Researches and resolves discrepancies of payroll information and documentation.
- Proactively communicates payroll timing needs and expectations with other departments, especially any changes to standard procedures.
- Performs a range of accounting level support for the accounting department.
- Reviews and maintains information published on Payroll intranet site.
- Supervises, mentors and develops payroll staff.
- Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
