Wiley University is seeking a dynamic and student-centered professional to serve as Assistant Athletic Director. This role supports the overall administration, compliance, and operational effectiveness of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program. The Assistant Athletic Director will play a key role in ensuring student-athlete success, promoting institutional values, and enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of Wiley athletics.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operations with long-term program development while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Program Administration & Operations
- Assist the Athletic Director in the daily management of all athletic programs and departmental operations
- Oversee scheduling, travel coordination, and game-day operations for assigned sports
- Support budget management, purchasing, and resource allocation
- Ensure facilities are properly maintained and prepared for practices and competitions
- Compliance & Governance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations (conference, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and University policies)
- Assist in maintaining accurate records related to eligibility, recruiting, and financial aid
- Support internal audits and compliance education for coaches and staff
- Student-Athlete Development
- Promote academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes
- Coordinate with academic affairs to monitor student-athlete progress
- Support initiatives related to leadership development, wellness, and life skills
- Coaching & Staff Support
- Provide oversight and guidance to assigned coaches and athletic staff
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management of coaches
- Foster a culture aligned with Wiley University’s mission and values
- External Relations & Engagement
- Support fundraising, alumni engagement, and community outreach initiatives
- Collaborate with marketing and communications to enhance brand visibility
- Assist with game promotions, fan engagement, and special events
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Sports Management, Business, or related field)
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of NAIA rules and collegiate athletics operations
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete development and success
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and athletics management systems
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at an HBCU or similar mission-driven institution
- Background in compliance, operations, or student-athlete services
- Experience with budgeting and program development
- Work Environment & Expectations
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
