Requirements
Education /Experience /Skills
Required
- An Associate's degree in Applied Science in Nursing (A. A.) or equivalent from a regionally accredited two-year college or nursing school .
- NYS License as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Computer: Word Processing; email
- Four year nursing degree preferred.
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Organizes and manages the functions of the school health offices for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective care for the students.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance of policies and procedures;
- Submits reports required by the Department of Health regarding Immunization survey and assists in the review of immunization records to assure compliance with NYS Law.
- Ensures medication and treatments are administered according to policies and are in compliance with the NYS Nurse Practice Act.
- Coordinates the services/monthly meetings, provided by the Medical Consultant and gather medical information from health professionals regarding students’ medical treatment.
- Serves as a medical resource for students, staff, and families. Notifies families when students need physical examinations, assists with follow up or communicates in the event of an injury or illness at school.
- Supervises the school nurses and school nurse substitutes. Coordinates coverages with school nurses substitutes as needed.
- Serves as a liaison between school nurses, school administration, and Wildwood Director of Nursing
Additional Requirements:
- A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
- Must have daily access to their own vehicle and drive our students when the program requires it.
- Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes de-escalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.
Salary : $9,729 - $12,188
