STARTING WAGE RANGE: $65K-$100K

The Finance Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Accounting Department. This includes supervision of payroll, general accounting, accounts payable, Responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role in maintaining the financial integrity of the enterprise and supports strategic decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial data.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs and supervises staff in various accounting roles including payroll and accounts payable.
  2. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, gaming regulations, internal controls, and policies, including those established by the Tribal Gaming Commission.
  3. Assists with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Coordinates and reviews the month-end and year-end closing process.
  5. Works closely with department heads to provide financial insight, budget support, and variance analysis.
  6. Develops, implements, and monitors accounting procedures and internal controls.
  7. Maintains accurate general ledger, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
  8. Oversees payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with tribal, federal, and state laws.
  9. Oversees accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and maintenance of vendor records.
  10. Prepares for and supports financial and gaming audits (internal and external), including audit schedules and responses.
  11. Provides leadership and professional development opportunities for accounting staff.
  12. Supervision of staff to include hiring, scheduling, leave approval, performance counseling, evaluation, operational orientation, and staff training and development.
  13. Participation and development of a tribal member workforce.
  14. Collaborates with IT and other departments to maintain and improve financial systems.
  15. Participates in strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
  16. Promote a clean, safe, and healthy work environment for employees and guests. Promptly report concerns to the supervisor.
  17. Ensure that the operation of equipment, tools, and materials is handled safely.
  18. Promote internal guest service standards through courteous and respectful behavior.
  19. Other related duties as assigned by the Controller.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

  1. Supervise various accounting staff.

 

SIGNATORY ABILITY:

  1. Office correspondence.
  2. General ledger journal entries.
  3. Personnel/payroll forms i.e., counseling, and daily time and attendance, performance appraisals, and incident.

 

ACCESS TO SENSITIVE AREAS:

  1. All areas in accounting, cage, and count areas as required and authorized.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with at least one year of accounting supervisory experience working in an accounting office or an accounting firm OR associate degree in accounting/finance AND five (5) years of accounting experience in progressively more responsible positions.
  2. Knowledge of generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Title 31, and relevant gaming compliance requirements.
  3. Experience with financial systems, payroll software, and Microsoft Excel.
  4. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in handling sensitive information.
  5. High School Diploma or GED. Or ten years’ experience.
  6. Demonstrate computer proficiency with spreadsheets, accounting software, and report programs.
  7. Communicate efficiently and effectively with others - written, verbal, aural, and interpersonal skills & and abilities.
  8. Work/sit for long periods at work/computer station; perform the repetitive motion of arms, wrists, and fingers; and at times, move throughout a noisy environment.
  9. Excellent personal appearance and hygiene habits.
  10. Requires a High-Security Gaming License clearance.
  11. Must be at least 21 years of age.

 

PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. CPA or MBA
  2. Experience in a casino, hospitality, or tribal government enterprise.
