Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scale House Operator to oversee the efficient operation of our scale house facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the weighing, inspection, and documentation of inbound and outbound loads, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The hours are Monday - Friday, 4 am - 12 pm, and possibly some Saturdays.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the efficiency of weighing trucks across the scale.
- Monitor load sizes of company trucks.
- Provide excellent customer service with a smile.
- Cash procedures, i.e., required to receive cash from sales. Required to balance and maintain petty cash. Daily balance recording is required.
- Communicate with the loader operator via two-way radio to accomplish the loading of pick-up customers.
- Greet and assist visitors entering the yard. Ensure site-specific safety rules are understood and followed.
- Maintain MSHA Part 46 Log, ensuring compliance.
- Answers customer and driver calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Enters order data into the computer system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate with shipping & receiving teams to streamline processes and improve overall operational efficiency.
Experience
- Demonstrates the ability to perform work efficiently utilizing a computer.
- Demonstrates the ability to do basic math.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel via telephone and two-way radio.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, and other employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work on a variety of job tasks.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
