Position Summary

We are looking for a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Assistant Designer to support the Women's Sportswear Design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer with 1 year of related apparel design experience who is eager to grow their career in women's fashion.

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid or Onsite)
Department: Design
Reports To: Associate Designer / Design Director
Salary Range: $50,000–$55,000 (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design team in developing seasonal women's sportswear collections.
• Conduct trend, market, and competitive research to identify new product opportunities.
• Assist in creating inspiration boards, color palettes, and seasonal concepts.
• Create and update technical flats, CADs, and presentation boards using Adobe Illustrator.
• Prepare design packages and maintain accurate design documentation within PLM.
• Assist with sample tracking, organization, and seasonal line reviews.
• Support fit sessions by taking notes, updating sketches, and communicating design revisions.
• Organize seasonal design boards, fabric libraries, trim libraries, and artwork files.
• Assist with presentation preparation for internal meetings and customer reviews.
• Communicate with Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising, and overseas vendors to ensure timely execution.
• Maintain seasonal calendars and help ensure deadlines are met.
• Perform additional design-related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• 1 year of related experience in women's sportswear or apparel design (internships may be considered).
• Experience supporting the development of women's apparel collections.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabrics.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop and InDesign are a plus.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
