Wieland is hiring a Materials Inspector II . The Material Inspector I will be responsible for weighing and grading materials in order to ensure accurate shipping/receiving and inventory records. The Materials Inspector I position requires someone with the ability to multitask, function in a high-volume and fast-paced atmosphere, work efficiently with multiple company departments, excellent communication, detail-oriented, great organizational skills ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. This role is located in Granite City, IL, and will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range: $24/hr - $26/hr

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Pay Schedule: Weekly

Responsibilities

Materials Inspector I Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate mastery of all Scale Operator duties.
• Coordinate unloading of materials and ensure accuracy of material weights.
• Proficient knowledge of weight distribution for loading without assistance.
• Capability to optimize the receiving/loading schedule each day.
• Ability to give clear instructions to other team members.
• Proficient in navigating within the company database.
• Proficient in receiving or shipping of domestic and international materials.
• Initiative to develop materials knowledge using the tools and resources provided.
• Serve as a backup for other Scale Operators as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.
• Maintain the cleanliness and accuracy of scale equipment and the dock areas.
• Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets, and other records, as assigned .
  
  

Materials Inspector I Qualifications

• 1 year of Materials Inspector experience
• Ability to work independently and as a team, in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations - Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. Hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, gloves, full body harnesses, or other protective equipment as required by the location and work performed. Some tasks may require work in confined spaces.
• Use of a respirator may be required for certain tasks. Must be medically cleared, fit-tested, and qualified to wear a respirator when applicable. Must maintain appropriate personal grooming to ensure an effective respirator seal.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience working with computerized scale systems and other similar software and equipment.
• Strong communication skills
• Self-motivated person with problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
• Maintains safety as high priority in all aspects of responsibility.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Periods of standing, walking, negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms.

• Walking over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
• Exposure to production environments that are not temperature-controlled.

• Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
• Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods.
