Taylor Engineering LLC is currently searching for a reliable and well-rounded MATERIALS TESTER/INSPECTOR to work in conjunction with and support our civil engineering department. As a materials tester/inspector, you are entrusted to work alongside our partnering firms to assist them with solving their construction-related challenges. This position requires the daily completion of a variety of testing and inspection tasks, including but not limited to, laboratory testing of soils, concrete, standard and modified proctors, penetrometer testing, grout and mortar testing, and construction inspections. Inspections include street, sidewalk, stormwater, water and sewer construction, resident inspections, rebar inspections, and weld inspections. This position manages self-directed work in a team environment and demonstrates the ability to work with minimal supervision, apply general engineering principles and think analytically. This position also requires 2-4 years of experience, and candidates should be ready to become responsibly in charge of their work.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
· Conduct Materials Testing and Observation Duties While Assisting Civil Engineers with Project Tasks
· Provide Clear Documentation of Findings and Results
· Communicate Information to Project Managers and Discuss Accuracy of Submitted Data
· Maintain Assigned Equipment, including Upkeep of Taylor Engineering LLC’s Materials Lab
· Make Independent Assessments of Engineering Problems and Recommend Solutions in the Field
· Follow Safety Rules, Practices, and Other Guidelines for All Projects.
· Coordinate with Review Agencies, Subconsultants, and Clients
· Plan, Coordinate, and Execute Quality Work in a Cost-Effective and Compliant Manner
· Report Any Safety Issues or Concerns to Management
· Drive Vehicle to/from Job Sites in a Safe and Timely Fashion
Supervision Received
This role will report to the civil engineers. Close and frequent cooperation with firm ownership can be expected. Minimal daily supervision will be exercised with a great chance to grow both personally and professionally.
Qualifications
· 2 Years of Experience as a Critical Materials Tester and Construction Inspector for a Civil Engineering Firm.
· Certifications in Nuclear Density Gauge, MoDOT Concrete Strength, MoDOT Concrete Field, MSHA Training, and MoDOT Training on Inspection for Federally Funded Projects.
· Valid Driver’s License Required
· Confidence and Capability in Performing Basic Materials Testing Independently.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
· Thorough Understanding of the Land Development Industry and Civil Engineering’s Role Within It.
· Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software, such as Civil 3D, is Preferred.
