The Plant Health Care Applicator supports the Plant Health Care division by performing scheduled applications and treatment services under the supervision and direction of a licensed Plant Health Care Technician or Supervisors. This role is focused on the safe, accurate, and efficient application of plant health care treatments.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-minded, and comfortable working outdoors while following established treatment plans, routes, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, soil amendments, and other plant health care materials according to prescribed treatment plans
- Perform foliar sprays, soil drenches, granular applications, and other approved application methods
- Follow all product label instructions, safety guidelines, and NYSDEC regulations
- Work under the direction and supervision of a licensed PHC Technician or Manager
- Assist with seasonal plant health care programs and scheduled service routes
- Operate and maintain PHC application equipment including sprayers, tanks, injectors, and hand tools
- Safely operate company vehicles between job sites
- Perform daily equipment checks, calibration, cleaning, and basic maintenance
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Follow company safety procedures, OSHA standards, and environmental best practices
- Maintain accurate application logs and treatment records as required
- Report equipment issues, material shortages, or site concerns to supervisors
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and compliance updates
- Work collaboratively with PHC Technicians, landscape maintenance crews, and supervisors
- Assist technicians with setup, breakdown, and treatment execution when required
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct on client properties
- This position operates under the supervision and direction of a licensed Plant Health Care Technician or Manager
- Applicator may work under the supervising license in accordance with NYSDEC regulations
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor throughout the workday
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Previous experience in landscaping, lawn care, horticulture, nursery work, or agricultural application preferred
- NYSDEC Pesticide Applicator Technician License or willingness to obtain, preferred
- Familiarity with basic plant material and landscape environments, preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with application equipment, preferred
- Competent use of mobile devices and digital software for documentation and scheduling is a plus.
- Field-based position serving residential, commercial, and municipal properties across Long Island
- Seasonal overtime is required during peak application periods
- Exposure to fertilizers, pesticides, and outdoor elements (PPE provided)
- Company will provide training and support toward obtaining and maintaining required licenses and certifications
