Position Summary The Groundskeeper plays a vital role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of our campus so that it reflects the values and mission of our Christ-centered learning community. This position is responsible for the care of all outdoor areas including lawns, athletic fields, playgrounds, gardens, walkways, parking lots and driveways. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and other members of the community, and demonstrate a high level of customer service. The ideal candidate takes pride in stewardship of the property, works diligently and dependably, and supports the school’s mission by helping create a welcoming, well-kept environment for students, families, and staff. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Campus Grounds Maintenance ●Maintain lawns and landscaped areas by mowing, edging, trimming, aerating, fertilizing, watering, and overseeding. ●Prune and care for trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants to ensure healthy growth and attractive appearance. ●Maintain flower beds and seasonal plantings; mulch, weed, and refresh as needed. ●Leaf blowing and other fall clean-up. ●Daily collect litter and debris from grounds, parking lots, doorways, and pathways to keep campus clean and orderly. ●Assist with parking lot maintenance of repainting lines and maintaining signage as needed. ●Remove snow and ice from walkways, stairs, and parking areas using plows, snow blowers, shovels, and de-icing materials. ●Maintain irrigation systems, including regular checks, repairs, seasonal start-up and winterization. ●Maintain designated outdoor education area and associated features to ensure a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for student learning. Conduct regular inspections for potential hazards (e.g., damaged equipment, poisonous plants, unsafe pathways) and repair or correct them. Playground and Recreational Area Maintenance ●Inspect and maintain playground equipment and surfacing to ensure safety and compliance with applicable standards. ●Repair or coordinate repair of damaged playground structures, swings, or surfacing materials with Director of Operations. ●Ensure playground surfacing (e.g., sand, mulch, rubber) is kept at safe depth, free of hazards and regularly refreshed. ●Keep outdoor play and recreational areas clean, safe, and inviting for students, including regular checks for hazards. Athletic Track & Field Care ●Maintain natural athletic fields for sports and physical education: irrigation, mowing, line-painting, dragging infields, monitoring turf health. ●Prepare track & fields for athletic events: setting up/removing goals, nets, benches, etc. ●Assist with turf renovation projects, seeding, aeration as needed. Facilities and Event Support ●Assist with minor repairs to outdoor structures such as fences, benches, signage, and outdoor furniture. ●Set up and break down outdoor areas for school events (assemblies, games, community gatherings, etc). ●Operate, maintain and ensure safe working condition of grounds-keeping equipment and tools which includes keeping them clean, sharpening blades, tuning up and changing oil. ●Monitor and maintain supply stock for grounds maintenance (mulch, fertilizer, de-icing material, etc) in coordination with Director of Operations. Other ●Provide input to Director of Operations regarding planning of future long-term or more extensive projects regarding grounds. ●Perform other duties including, but not limited to, custodial and maintenance assistance, especially through the winter season. ●Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations or Head of School. Safety and Compliance ●Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). ●Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with Massachusetts state regulations and school policy (if licensed). ●Promptly report any safety hazards, equipment failures, or property damage. Faith and Community ●Demonstrate Christian character, integrity, and a heart for service in all work performed. ●Support the mission and values of the school through dependable work, teamwork, and positive relationships with staff, students and families. ●Contribute to the school’s welcoming environment that honors God and nurtures community.

Salary : $45,000 - $60,000
