Spring Full-Time Tax Internship (In-Office Position)
January 20 - April 16, 2026
Our interns are offered the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of public accounting through work with actual clients. We believe that your time with us in this program is best spent when you not only observe our professionals working with client accounts but also contribute your skills to the process.
Students who join us in this program can expect to:
- Work hands-on with Partners and Tax Accountants to prepare tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Collaborate with staff to complete financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and depreciation schedules.
- Apply what you have learned in the classroom to solve real client issues
- Mentoring that will challenge you to build on your personal and professional successes and ultimately define and reach your goals
Compensation & Resources
Full-time interns with Whitinger & Company will be paid $22.00 per hour, which will exceed $11,000 during your internship period. Any overtime worked will be paid at one and a half times the regular rate. Whitinger will provide you with an individual workstation, a laptop computer, and all the necessary software and equipment to complete your work.
Eligibility
Internships are ideal for juniors and seniors majoring in accounting with a minimum grade point average of 2.8. All candidates should have completed at least one 300-level accounting course.
Mentor Program
Before the beginning of an internship with Whitinger & Company, you will be assigned a mentor. This staff member will serve as a one-on-one resource to answer any questions and provide orientation to the company and industry, enabling you to perform confidently. In many cases, our mentors also help interns transition effectively into full-time employment.
After the Internship
An internship with Whitinger & Company offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of public accounting and become more familiar with our firm. It also provides you with an excellent opportunity to make a positive impression and give us a better understanding of your career aspirations. In many cases, a successful internship is followed by a job offer as a full-time staff accountant upon graduation.
