Job Description Instructional Coach (TOSA)
Title: Instructional Coach
Reports To: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning or their designee
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year as established by the Board of Education and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Job Goal / Purpose
The Instructional Coach provides leadership, training, classroom coaching, and modeling. The coach collaborates with staff on planning, implementing, and refining instructional practices, curriculum, and district priorities. The ultimate goal is to strengthen teacher performance, promote effective instruction, and increase student achievement across all grade levels.
Qualifications
- Valid Ohio certification/licensure.
- Master's degree.
- Successful teaching experience.
- Previous instructional coaching experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities
Professional Development
- Design and deliver professional development to deepen teachers' understanding of student learning and thinking.
- Provide ongoing PD focused on instructional strategies, standards-based concepts, curriculum/resource implementation, behavior management, and district/state initiatives.
- Attend professional development sessions as necessary to stay abreast of educational trends and best practices.
Engage in study groups and collaborative learning with other instructional coaches and district leaders.
Coaching & Support
- Provide regularly scheduled coaching sessions for designated staff.
- Model effective instructional practices within classrooms.
Provide coaching and feedback aligned with district instructional priorities.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work collaboratively with principals and school leadership teams on all aspects of building-level instructional implementation.
- Partner with district administrators to support consistent implementation of instructional resources and professional development.
Participate in site visits, peer observations, and inter-district collaboration to strengthen coaching practices.
Data & Accountability
- Oversee, organize, and take responsibility for instructional data gathering and reporting.
- Monitor and assess classroom implementation of instructional practices and resources.
- Assist teachers and administrators in analyzing data to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.
Complete required reports accurately and on time.
Other Duties
Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning or their designee.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Excellent observation and communication skills.
- May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
- Support for students with behavioral/management needs.
Frequent interaction with a diverse population of students, staff, and families.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, ensuring alignment with district goals and expectations.
