Position Summary
Whitegate Construction Group is seeking an accomplished Business Development Manager to drive revenue generation across the Mid-Atlantic region, North Carolina, and Florida. This is not an entry-level sales role—the successful candidate must bring established relationships with leading Developers and General Contractors in the multifamily sector, ready to leverage on Day 1.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of both "Design-Build" and "Plan & Spec" project delivery methods, understand regional market dynamics from Raleigh to Miami, and have the technical expertise to establish immediate credibility with engineers, developers, and project owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary sales leader and company representative for Pennsylvania, the Mid-Atlantic, North Carolina, and Florida markets
- Leverage existing relationships with top-tier multifamily GCs and residential developers to build an immediate pipeline of high-value new construction projects
- Manage the full acquisition process for large-scale HVAC and plumbing contracts (typically 200 unit developments) from initial client engagement through contract execution
- Proactively identify and pursue emerging opportunities by monitoring regional construction trends and tracking projects before they reach public bidding platforms
- Conduct ongoing market analysis to assess competitor activity, pricing trends, and strategic opportunities within the new construction landscape
- Own the complete sales cycle including relationship development, pre-construction meetings, estimating oversight, and final contract negotiation
- Provide technical consultation on value engineering, HVAC/plumbing system design, and building code compliance to position bids as both competitive and technically superior
- Collaborate with Estimating and Project Management teams to ensure smooth transitions and alignment between sales commitments and operational execution
- Represent the company at key industry events (NAHB, NAA, MCAA) to strengthen market presence and establish the company as the premier mechanical contractor for multifamily construction
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field (MBA preferred)
- Minimum 8 years of successful sales experience in HVAC and Plumbing, specifically within multifamily new construction
- Established network of Developer and General Contractor relationships in the multifamily sector with demonstrated ability to open doors immediately
- Active relationships with decision-makers across the Philadelphia, Mid-Atlantic, North Carolina, and Florida markets
- Deep understanding of multifamily construction bid cycles, project timelines, and developer/GC pain points
- Technical expertise in HVAC systems (VRF, Split Systems, RTUs) and Plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary, gas piping) for multi-unit residential projects
- Proven track record securing multi-million-dollar contracts through effective stakeholder engagement and negotiation
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical mechanical concepts into clear business value propositions
- Willingness to travel extensively across a multi-state territory to maintain consistent face-to-face client engagement
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Service Titan, or Procore)
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents including blueprints, MEP drawings, and specifications
- Demonstrated value engineering expertise to help general contractors meet budget targets without compromising quality
Compensation & Benefits

Salary : $100,000 - $150,000
