What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food and Beverage Scheduling and Training Coordinator position at Whitecaps Professional Baseball?
Food and Beverage Scheduling and Training Coordinator
Who we are: We’re the West Michigan Whitecaps, Class High A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. Our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment to the West Michigan community. We pride ourselves on our stellar customer service and our dedication to providing friendly faces, open minds, and our time and energy to our fans. We’ve been here for more than 30 years and are ready to be here for at least 30 more.
Why we want you: You’re an enthusiastic, people-oriented individual with a knack for organization and team leadership. You have prior experience in food and beverage management and are passionate about delivering the highest guest satisfaction. You thrive in fast-paced environments, love meeting new people, and communicate effectively. Flexibility is your middle name, and you embrace the unexpected with a smile. You’re quick on your feet and find solutions to problems with ease. You love the thought of being able to improve the game day experience of both staff and fans.
Why you want to work here: Joining our team means becoming part of a vibrant culture where your contributions truly matter. We work very hard but we don’t take ourselves too seriously; we realize how important things like office darts and puppy visits and staff happy hours are. Plus, you also get free baseball tickets (your friends will love you!), free food, a free health club membership, and opportunities to get discounted or free tickets to various shows and events in West Michigan. We’re also pretty great people to work with.
What you’ll do: As the Food and Beverage Scheduling and Training Coordinator, you’ll oversee the training and placement of game day food and beverage staff. You’ll create and conduct training programs that ensure a positive learning environment and compliance with safety standards, coordinate orientations, manage scheduling to keep crews as consistent as possible, and maintain effective communication with crew captains and the entire food and beverage crew. Your role is crucial in ensuring that our team is well-prepared, and our guests have an exceptional experience.
What you need: This is an hourly position requiring a strong background in event venues and food and beverage management, along with excellent leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills. You should have great customer service abilities and be self-motivated. ServSafe certifications and familiarity with POS and scheduling systems (such as Square and HotSchedules) are a plus, as you’ll use these daily to manage staff and ensure smooth operations. You will be required to complete ServSafe Food Handler and ServSafe Alcohol Certifications after hiring if you do not yet have these. During the season, you must have full availability to work 40 hours a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as game days and special events will demand your expertise. In the off-season, you’ll need flexibility to work 20-30 hours a week as the focus shifts to preparation and planning for the upcoming season.
Let’s do this: If you’re ready to take the lead in creating unforgettable experiences at LMCU Ballpark, we can’t wait to hear from you! Submit your resume and a cover letter explaining why you’d be a great fit for our team. We’ll be in touch!
