Controller

Whitecap Search is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and implementing efficient processes to support the company's growth. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong background in accounting and finance, capable of leading a team and driving continuous improvement.

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, delivering accurate and timely financial statements to the CFO and leadership.
• Manage the general ledger and chart of accounts, including journal entries, account reconciliations, consolidated schedules, and supporting documentation across multiple entities.
• Lead the finance and accounting workstreams for acquisition integrations, including chart-of-accounts alignment, opening balance sheets, reporting, controls, and close-process integration.
• Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies and the internal control environment, and scale both as the company grows.
• Research, conclude on, and document technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, business combinations, and leases.
• Improve and automate accounting processes, internal controls, reporting tools, and systems as the company scales.
• Prepare schedules, analyses, and supporting information used in Board, lender, and investor reporting, including debt covenant compliance reporting, and partner with the CFO on priority finance initiatives.
• Manage the external audit, tax filings, and other compliance requirements, serving as the primary day-to-day contact for outside accountants and advisors.
• Identify accounting and reporting risks and recommend practical, technology-enabled solutions.
• Identify and implement opportunities to use AI, automation, and workflow tools to improve the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Evaluate existing finance processes and recommend technology-enabled improvements, including AI-assisted reconciliations, reporting, data analysis, and documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on financial reporting and internal controls.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition and business combinations.
• Experience with acquisition integrations and managing financial processes across multiple entities.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills; experience with AI and automation tools is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
