We’re a growing wholesale business with offices in California and Florida, and this role is based in our Clearwater, FL office. On-the-job training is provided to get you up to speed on our products.
We own and operate two overseas manufacturing facilities and maintain distribution centers on both the East and West Coast, allowing us to provide competitive pricing, consistent quality, and reliable delivery. Position SummaryWe are looking for a strategic Purchasing Manager who wants the opportunity to build and modernize the purchasing function of a growing company.Rather than stepping into a mature department, you'll have the opportunity to improve forecasting, inventory planning, supplier performance, purchasing systems, and overall supply chain processes. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating better ways of operating—not just maintaining existing ones.
Key Responsibilities
· Source, evaluate, and negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers
· Build forecasting models using historical demand.
· Manage supplier relationships and monitor vendor performance for quality, delivery, and service.
· Manage international purchasing, freight coordination, customs documentation, and import logistics.
· Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring materials arrive on the correct ocean shipments for on-time customer delivery.
· Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support company objectives.
· Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with sales and operations to maintain appropriate stock.
· Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
· Resolve supplier issues related to quality, shortages, and delivery delays.
· Coordinate with warehouse, accounting, and sales departments to ensure purchasing requirements are met.
· Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor information within the ERP system.
· Prepare purchasing reports, forecasts, and budget recommendations.
· Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical purchasing practices
· Mentor purchasing staff and improve department capabilities.
Qualifications
· 5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience.
· 2 years of purchasing management or supervisory experience preferred.
· Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is a plus).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
Preferred Experience
· Marine, manufacturing, industrial, or distribution industry experience.
· Inventory planning and demand forecasting.
· International freight, customs, and tariff management.
· Supplier performance measurement and continuous improvement initiatives.
