Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and records management
- Obtain vital signs and medical history information from patients prior to procedures
- Provide patient education on oral health, treatment plans, and post-operative care
- Maintain infection control standards by following proper sterilization and disinfection procedures
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical coding, and updating patient information in the system
- Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge in pediatrics and anatomy
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical imaging software is a plus
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred
- Experience with pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry procedures is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dental care and medical documentation standards
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration
- Certification in CPR or BLS is preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
