Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hospice Nursing Assistant to join our care team in Victoria, Goliad, Beeville and Refugio.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in home or facility settings, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, ensuring documentation aligns with hospice protocols and care plans.
- Assist the nursing staff with care procedures, repositioning, and comfort measures as directed by the interdisciplinary hospice team.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers, including the use of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the patient's environment to promote safety and comfort.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and members of the hospice team to ensure coordinated care.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families, demonstrating sensitivity to the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of hospice care.
- Participate in training and ongoing education to maintain skills and understanding of hospice care standards and best practices.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere strictly to HIPAA and hospice compliance regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant training program required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of hospice experience
- Familiarity with hospice documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) systems is an advantage.
- Knowledge of hospice philosophy, end-of-life care practices, and symptom management principles.
- Demonstrates empathy, patience, and respect for patients and families during emotionally challenging circumstances.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary hospice team.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel within assigned service areas.
- Physical ability to assist with patient transfers, repositioning, and mobility support.
