What are the responsibilities and job description for the Roofing Helper position at White Castle Roofing?
White Castle Roofing and Contracting, Inc. ("Company") needs 18 temporary Roofing Helpers from April 1, 2026 -- November 30, 2026 for work at various worksites in Douglas, Jefferson, Adams, Weld, Larimer, Arapahoe, Denver, Broomfield, Laramie, and Albany counties in Colorado. Work is full-time; Monday -- Friday; 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.; 40 hrs/week; Company uses a single workweek as the standard for computing wages due; workers paid once per week. Piece rate wages may apply based on volume of job-related tasks completed per workweek, but workers are guaranteed a wage rate of at least $25.65/hr (higher rates possible based on experience or skill) with applicable benefits. Workers are eligible for overtime pay of at least $38.48/hr, equal to one and one-half times the applicable hourly rate for all hours over 40 in a given workweek. Please note that 6 hours of overtime per week is an estimate based on historical averages over the period of need and is subject to change based on weather conditions and business needs. If requested by workers, Company will assist with securing adequate apartment-style shared lodging plus utilities in employer-owned and/or employer-rented housing at a rate of approximately $140.00 per person per pay period. (A refundable damage deposit of $400.00 per person will also apply.) Company will make all deductions from worker's paycheck as provided by law, plus $140.00 per person per pay period for housing expenses for employees who choose them. Company will also provide an optional advance of up to $300.00 to purchase clothing and food; repayment for any such advance will be deducted from future paychecks, if applicable.
Job duties include the following: Physically demanding duties related to new and re-roofing projects. Assist more experienced roofers and crew leaders by using, supplying, or holding materials and tools. Unload materials and tools from work trucks. Remove old roofing materials. Sweep and clean roofs to prepare them for the application of new roofing materials. Set ladders, scaffolds, and hoists, and use the same to take supplies to roofs. Cover roofs with layers of roofing felt or similar materials to prepare for installation. Assist with re-roofing process as directed by foreman. Maintain tools and clean work area and equipment. Assist with other projects ancillary to roofing projects. All duties to be performed utilizing proper fall protection and scaffolding. Company is committed to providing a safe workplace and using best efforts to comply with OSHA. Workers may be fined or subject to disciplinary action for repeated safety violations consistent with Company's OSHA safety plans and OSHA compliance efforts.
Company will provide all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job to workers at no charge. The costs of transportation (including subsistence and, to the extent necessary, lodging) from the place of recruitment to the place of employment will be reimbursed upon arrival, (subject to repayment to Company if the workers do not complete at least one-half of the employment period). Company will reimburse H-2B workers in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, that are actually incurred by the workers (other than those fees primarily for the benefit of the workers). Upon completion of the work contract or where a worker is dismissed earlier, Company will provide or pay for the worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provide at a rate of at least $16.28/day during travel to a maximum of $68.00/day with receipts. Normal work-related travel within the area of intended employment / normal commuting distance, as necessary dependent upon business needs; daily transportation to individual worksites may be provided depending on location. Company guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
