Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as buses, school buses, and paratransit vans to transport passengers on scheduled routes
- Ensure passenger safety by following all traffic laws and company policies
- Communicate effectively with passengers, providing information and assistance as needed
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify mechanical safety and readiness
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and passenger counts
- Manage behavior and ensure a respectful environment onboard, especially when working with children or senior citizens
- Respond promptly to route changes or emergencies, coordinating with dispatch or emergency services when necessary
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus or passenger vehicle operation
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving roles
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities
- Ability to work with children, seniors, or individuals requiring special assistance with patience and professionalism
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle inspections and troubleshooting minor issues
- Excellent customer service skills to create a welcoming environment for all passengers
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to handle challenging situations onboard effectively
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by transportation regulations
