Whirlpool Corporation is looking for a dynamic transformational leader looking for an exciting challenge to lead and develop a world-class manufacturing technical team and drive results to the next level in a high speed manufacturing facility. As the Technical Team Manager, Tool & Die you will be joining our Whirlpool manufacturing facility located in Tulsa, OK.
Whirlpool is looking for a Technical Team Manager, Tool & Die that will lead, support, and develop tool and die makers and apprentices in the improvement, maintenance, and repairs of tools/ dies in a high speed sheet metal stamping manufacturing environment.
Your responsibilities will include
This position coordinates all tool room activities on existing tooling repairs/upgrades and new projects to ensure production requirements. Monitor and ensure the ongoing performance and maintenance of all dies, execute, and sustain standardized best practices, and systems to streamline processes driving continuous improvement in all tool room activity.
- Participates in functional area plant meetings and related activities representing Tool and Die and to assist in improving the plant's performance goals.
- Evaluate work requests and coordinate all personnel and equipment to optimize resources for tool repair and updates. Order necessary supplies for both repair, upgrades, and improvements.
- Lead the WCM pillar PM for the Tool Room
- Weekly interaction w/ Plant Staff and Plant Leader
- Enforces safe work practices as the highest priority and implements objectives for health/safety and housekeeping.
- Maintains good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, management, supplier community, and interfaces with necessary support functions inside and outside of the plant.
- Utilizes best practices, industrial standards, and common systems to support the overall competitive manufacturing initiative.
- Develops and monitors planning timetables and project schedules.
- Develops cost estimates, investment forecast, business cases, appropriation requests, and plans for related projects
- Ensures long term, cost effective maintenance of equipment and facility.
- Develop and manage a budget for tool room staff, tool and die maintenance, and equipment.
- Manages projects to minimize investment cost while providing facilities that require a minimum operating cost (maximum throughput, energy efficiency, etc.)
- Travel less than 10%
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3 years of manufacturing experience
Preferred skills and experiences
- Strong Safety Mindset
- Previous Leadership/ Management experience leading hourly employees
- Previous experience leading, driving, and implementing Preventative Maintenance programs
- Ability to read & understand design prints and drawings
- Ability to use CAD
- Experience in/with WCM (World Class Manufacturing) Tools and Methodology
- Experienced with Root cause / problem solving
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- High level of oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent project management skills
- Computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft Office/ Google software
- Experience working in high speed high volume operations
