Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe changes in health status, and report findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with individual care plans, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas.
- Administer medications safely following prescribed instructions and document administration in compliance with healthcare standards.
- Support residents during outings or appointments by providing personal transportation assistance and ensuring safety at all times.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities tailored to their interests, including memory care strategies for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities support, or senior care is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and emergency response procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or dementia is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while supporting patients during transfers or mobility activities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams while respecting residents’ rights.
- Familiarity with care plans, patient monitoring practices, HIPAA compliance, and home health or hospice care standards.
- Valid certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional certifications related to geriatrics or home & community care are a plus.
