Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor residents’ health by observing vital signs, administering medication as prescribed, and documenting changes or concerns in care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Provide compassionate patient care during routine tasks such as meal preparation, feeding, light cleaning, and ensuring a safe environment in accordance with resident’s rights and safety protocols.
- Support residents with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through specialized memory care techniques and engaging activities tailored to individual needs.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings, ensuring safe personal transportation assistance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient monitoring, medication administration, and incident reports; communicate effectively with team members about resident status.
- Follow all safety procedures including first aid, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response protocols to ensure the well-being of residents at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, or age-related conditions like geriatrics or hospice care.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia or Alzheimer’s care strategies, and memory care best practices.
- Experience with patient monitoring tools including vital signs measurement and medication administration.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs using manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts or other patient transfer methods.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary and maintain physical stamina for long shifts involving caregiving tasks.
