Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician (Level 2–3) to join our team. This role is approximately 65% technical duties, with additional responsibilities in lab work, dentistry, medical records, and hospital upkeep.
Technical & Clinical Responsibilities (Approx. 65%)
- Assist veterinarians with medical and surgical procedures in any appropriate capacity
- Obtain and record patient histories, vital signs, and weights
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for reference labs
- Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments as prescribed
- Administer fluids and blood products; operate and maintain IV pumps
- Administer and monitor anesthesia under veterinarian supervision
- Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill patients
- Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery
- Clean, maintain, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Ensure anesthetic machines, monitors, scopes, and breathing apparatus are functioning properly
- Take and process radiographs; demonstrate proper positioning techniques
- Maintain preventative healthcare knowledge (vaccines, flea/heartworm, dental care, senior wellness, spay/neuter)
- Educate clients on medical recommendations, products, and medications
- Perform client callbacks
- Maintain legally defensible medical records in cooperation with veterinarians
Laboratory Responsibilities
- Collect specimens and perform routine lab procedures in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology
- Assist with diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures using advanced diagnostic equipment
- Report diagnostic results to veterinarians
- Maintain quality control and accurate records for in-house lab equipment
- Prepare samples and paperwork for reference labs
- Fill prescriptions accurately with required double-signature verification
Dental Responsibilities
- Clean, scale, and polish teeth using dental equipment and hand instruments
- Record dental findings and report to the veterinarian
- Assist with oral extractions and dental procedures
- Take before-and-after dental photos for clients
- Take full-mouth dental radiographs
Medical Records & Client Communication
- Update and maintain medical records
- Communicate with doctors and technicians via medical record notations
- Record critical information for hospitalized patients
- Create estimates and treatment plans
- Confidently and thoroughly communicate treatment plans to clients
Housekeeping Duties (Approx. 10%)
- Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, surgery suite, and treatment areas
- Clean and maintain equipment to ensure longevity
- Follow the Whole Hospital Cleaning Schedule
Skills & Qualities We're Looking For
- Ability to work independently and accept direction as needed
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to assist in surgery and confidently draw blood (Level 3 preferred)
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written client communication skills

Knowledge & Experience
