Job Title: Adult Basketball Referee
Job Status: Part Time – Non-Exempt
Department: Recreation
Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center
Reports To: Recreation Services Manager - Aquatics & Facilities
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Essential Job Duties
• Officiate contests in an unbiased manner and make sure contest is played within the rules. The Referee will be in complete control of the contest.
• Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
• Work as scheduled.
• Arrive fifteen (15) minutes prior to scheduled game time.
• Assist Recreation Services Manager with any setup, field maintenance, etc. needed before the contest, during, or after the game.
• Approach the position as a representative of the Wheeling Park District, displaying respect for the facility, participants, parents, and co-workers.
• Maintain a professional and mature attitude before, during, and after the contest.
• Attend all training sessions assigned by the Recreation Program Manager, read rules, watch videos, and accept suggestions from qualified personnel.
• Participates in required training and safety programs as established by the Wheeling Park District.
• Supports and exhibits the organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition and appreciation, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
• Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
18 years of age or older.
Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Must have CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days
Knowledge
• A general knowledge of basketball
• General ISHA basketball rules

Working Conditions
• Most activities will be performed indoors.
• Employee may be exposed to chemicals or other potentially dangerous materials utilized in the manufacturing of arts and crafts or routine maintenance supplies.
• Employee may be exposed to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.
