Position Summary
The Ballet Folklórico Dance Instructor is responsible for planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate dance classes that celebrate the rich traditions and cultural heritage of Mexican Folklórico dance. Essential Job Duties
• Plan and teach Ballet Folklórico classes to participants of various ages and skill levels.
• Instruct students in traditional regional dances, choreography, footwork, posture, and performance techniques.
• Incorporate the history and cultural significance of dances, music, costumes, and traditions into lesson plans.
• Create lesson plans that are organized, engaging, and appropriate for participants' developmental levels.
• Supervise and instruct classes safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules
• Prepare students for showcases and community events as assigned.
• Set up and clean up equipment and instructional space before and after each class.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor attendance and communicate participant progress or concerns with supervisors and families as appropriate.
• Communicate professionally with all participants, parents, and park district staff.
• Work with Recreation Services Manager to determine class, showcase, and event schedules.
• Participate in required training and safety programs as established by the Wheeling Park District.

• Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
One to two years of college experience at a college or university or equivalent professional experience. Must have an interest in working with children and adults in a fun learning environment. Candidate must have experience teaching and planning curriculum for Ballet Folklórico dance to children, and teens/adults. Must have knowledge of traditional Mexican regional dances and their cultural significance.
Skills and Abilities
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and problem solve.
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Must have CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days.
